I wish I could be a mommy
Wish I could hear my son yell, “Ma!”
And my daughter, she’d call me “Umi”
Cuz she can say it better than mommy
I wanna feel what it’s like to be pregnant, a swollen tummy
Wanna know what it’s like to feel life
I wanna be in love for the first time
I wanna protect my children like a lioness protects her cubs
Wash their little bottoms in the tub
Wanna feel their tiny hands around my leg
Holding on for dear life
Protect them from strife
Wanna wake up to their screams, “Ma, tell Sha to leave me alone”
And pitter patter of feet
Listen and pay attention to their squeaky voices when they speak
I wanna clean the wounds and heal the pain that only life will inflict and cause
When they think of me, I want them to smile and say, “That’s my dog!”
I want to love more than I’ve ever loved
I want to tell them everyday, “You two are mommy’s angels from above”
I wanna kiss them as they fall asleep
I wanna rock them and cry as I listen to their heart beat
I wanna give them wisdom and nuture their growth
I want them to get straight A’s so I can boast
Surprise them with new Jordans just because
And a new truck for graduation cuz they moving on up
I wanna celebrate when they’re happy
Dry their tears when they cry
Above everything I want to raise them to be all they can be
Happy, Healthy Adults,
Humble, Sweet, Genuine and real
Damn ya’ll, I wanna be a mommy!
